About the Role:
We’re hiring a Maintenance Technician Trainee to keep our Bridge Haven care home in Canterbury, Kent, in top condition for our residents. You'll be hands-on, tackling daily maintenance, repairs, and grounds upkeep to create a safe, pleasant environment. This role is for 37 hours per week with the possibility of some weekend shifts. A driver’s license is essential. This is a Trainee role, that will work towards becoming a full Maintenance Technician after 2-3 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain our grounds with pride – mowing, planting, weeding, and more.
- Handle minor repairs, redecoration, and ensure all areas meet high safety standards.
- Monitor essential systems, including heating, lighting, fire alarms, and H&S equipment.
- Support management with health, safety, and maintenance audits.
- Make proactive suggestions to improve our home’s environment and liaise with contractors as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- You don’t need to be fully qualified - just practical, willing to learn and confident with tools.
- Strong DIY skills
- Experience in labouring or handyman work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to work independently and follow steps and procedures
- A full UK driving licence is necessary
Nice-to-Haves:
- Undertaking or willing to undertake carpentry, electronics, or plumbing qualification
- Previous customer-facing experience
