Domestic Team Leader

The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Domestic Team Leader to join our team at one of our residential care homes. As the Domestic Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising and supporting a team of Domestic Assistants, ensuring the cleanliness and homely environment of the residential home while meeting the needs and wishes of our residents.
This role is key to ensuring that our residents’ living areas are comfortable, safe, and well-maintained. You’ll be responsible for managing the daily cleaning routines, overseeing a team, and ensuring that cleaning is carried out in a manner that respects residents’ preferences and privacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and support a team of Domestic Assistants, ensuring daily cleaning rotas are covered.
Carry out cleaning duties with minimal disruption to residents’ daily routines.
Involve residents in the cleaning process, respecting their rights and preferences in arranging their living spaces.
Delegate tasks effectively to ensure all cleaning duties are completed, including managing routine and emergency cleaning situations.
Manage cleaning supplies, ordering materials while ensuring budgetary limits are met and keeping accurate records of materials, in line with COSHH regulations.
Assist in the safekeeping of residents' clothing and personal belongings.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and fire regulations at all times.
Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information about residents, staff, and the organisation.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills & Experience:
Excellent communication skills with a compassionate, empathetic approach when interacting with others.
Proven ability to supervise, train, and motivate a team of Domestic Assistants.
Flexible approach to work, with the ability to work with limited supervision.
Strong understanding of the needs of dependent older people.
Ability to complete records in line with Avante Care and Support’s Quality Standards.
Team player, with a focus on delivering a high standard of cleaning and service.
Desirable Experience:
Previous experience in supervising domestic staff in a residential care setting is preferred.
