Systems Accountant
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum

Contract: Full-time Fixed Term
About the Role
We are seeking a Systems Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting, developing, and improving our financial systems and processes. This position will act as the link between Finance and IT, ensuring systems effectively support business requirements while maintaining data integrity, reporting accuracy, and strong financial controls.
The successful candidate will contribute to finance transformation initiatives, system enhancements, reporting improvements, and continuous process optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance, development, and optimisation of finance systems and ERP platforms.
- Assist with system upgrades, implementations, testing, and user acceptance activities.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and governance of financial data.
- Develop and improve financial reports, dashboards, and management information.
- Analyse system and data issues, providing practical solutions and recommendations.
- Review finance processes and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
- Work closely with Finance, IT, and external suppliers to deliver system enhancements and projects.
- Provide support and training to system users across the business.
About You
Essential
- Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience working within a finance function with exposure to finance systems and ERP platforms.
- Strong understanding of financial processes, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Financial Reporting.
- Experience analysing financial data and producing accurate reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and modelling.
- Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS and/or UK GAAP).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience of finance system implementations or transformation projects.
- Knowledge of Power BI, SQL, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.
- Experience with automation tools such as Power Automate or RPA solutions.
- Understanding of system integrations, APIs, and data flows.
- Experience working within a complex or multi-entity environment.
